4 Ways to Bring the Holiday Celebrations on Board Your Boat This Season

Florida boasts beautiful weather year-round, with nearly 240 sunny days annually and average daytime temps in the mid- to high-70s during winter months.

This weather means that when you purchase a cruiser or fishing rig from your trusted Palm Beach boat dealer, you can enjoy the boating life for much of the calendar year, including during the winter holidays.

Of course, you may want to do more than just spend the day on the water. You might be keen to bring your holiday celebrations on board. While it’s probably not feasible to install and decorate a 10’ tree on a boat, there are definitely ways you can make it festive and bring some of your favorite holiday traditions and events on board.

1. Decorate in Small Doses

When you start shopping with boat dealers in Palm Beach, the ability to decorate for the holidays probably isn’t high on your checklist of must-haves. As a result, you may be somewhat at a loss as to how to deck the halls (or hulls) when the holiday season hits.

There are a few options to explore. Pine garlands (real or fake) make for a festive addition to railings, as do strings of tinsel and outdoor rope lights, and they all look lovely together.

Some LED rope lights even work with phone apps, so you can change colors or enjoy effects. Holiday window clings are easy to apply and later remove and store for next year.

For below decks, add festive pillows and cozy throws, and find a place to hang stockings. If you want to go all-out, you could even get a small tabletop tree to decorate, as long as you secure it.

If you have a flatscreen on board, you might display a digital yule log. There are tons available for free on YouTube with fun themes like animals (puppies, bunnies, etc.), Marvel fireside (at the homes of Iron Man, Captain America, and so on), Nick Offerman drinking whiskey, and Norwegian tundra.

When decorating your boat, the Grady-White Canyon 376 features a 37-foot center console making is perfect for all your decorating needs.  With a wide beam, roomy console interior, and the amenities and comforts you would expect in a cabin style, family-oriented boat, the 376 is easy to overnight and a real standout for fishing and family enjoyment. Plus, it’s perfect for the holiday season to go out and enjoy the water.

2. Join a Boat Parade

Many locales host boat parades around the holiday season, and if you’ve already decorated and added lights, it could be fun to join the procession. The “Merry and Bright” Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade is a free, family-friendly event featuring roughly 80 decorated boats, and yours could be one of them.

3. Host a Holiday Potluck with a Nautical Theme

There’s nothing wrong with traditional holiday mains like turkey and ham, but when you host a nautical holiday get-together, change it up with lobster tails, crab legs, or clam chowder, for example.

Since most boats don’t have much of a kitchen setup, make any party a potluck, so you don’t have to stress about cooking. Don’t forget to add fun, themed cocktails to the menu.

Since gifting is a tradition for many winter holidays, consider adding a secret Santa or white elephant exchange to your party. It’s tons of fun, and the nautical theme will help guests pick out gifts.

4. Join Your Palm Beach Boat Dealer in Donating

Mariner Marine is conducting a toy drive for Toys for Tots, with collections taking place until December 9, 2022. If part of your holiday tradition includes giving back to those less fortunate than yourself, it’s easy to participate.

While you could simply drop off a couple of toys at the Mariner Marine location when you come by to scheduleboat service and maintenance, it’s easy to bring one of your favorite holiday traditions on board by encouraging family, friends, and other guests at your holiday events to contribute as well.

When you drop off your amassed collection of toys, you’ll spread a lot more holiday cheer than if you had simply donated on your own.

Decorating your boat, joining a seasonal parade, hosting parties, and inviting guests to donate to worthy causes will help your boat truly feel like home for the holidays.
